Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Delta Phi Nu is committed to building and promoting an inclusive ENVIRONMENT, where all members feel safe, welcomed, and included. Each chapter is dedicated to discussing and INTEGRATING Diversity, equity, and inclusion into EVERYTHING we do.

Land ACKNOWLEDGMENT

It’s important that each of our chapters acknowledges the land that their area is on. Land is apart of who we are; the past, present, and the future. This is merely a starting point for our organization and what we can do to support the Indigenous community. The map on the left shows Indigenous territories, treaties, and languages in Ontario.

OUR COMMITMENT

  • More diverse.

This means seeking more potential Delta Phi Nu’s who are from different backgrounds and walks of life. You can take part in this by expanding your circle and exploring new areas of your campus and community.

  • More equitable.

This means ensuring that our day-to-day actions fit each individual so all members have the opportunity to experience the Delta Phi Nu membership equally. It requires all members to call attention to policies, procedures and events within the chapter and in everyday life when you see a lack of equity.

  • More actively inclusive.

This means celebrating and embracing the differences within all Delta Phi Nu members. We need to move beyond saying “we don’t discriminate” and seek opportunities to amplify the differences that we bring. As individuals, we all have so much to gain and learn from how others see the world.

Recent Policy Changes and Updates

Officer Title Changes

In 2021, members reviewed policies and structure of the Organization which led to the need to change Leadership Titles within the Organization from the term “Chairman” to “Officer”. The term Chairman is not indicative of the positions and is not gender inclusive. As such, all National and Chapter-level positions are referred to as Officers.

Vice President —> Vice-President

Public Relations Chairman —> Public Relations Officer

Membership Chairman —> Membership Officer

Conflict Resolution Chairman —> Conflict Resolution Officer

Finance Chairman —> Finance Officer

All other position holders are also referred to as officers.

Legacy Policy

Since the founding of Delta Phi Nu, the Organization has prided themselves on their inclusivity in the sisterhood selection and recruitment process. As such, no preferential treatment is provided to Legacies, nor is membership reliant on things beyond the control of potential members such as race, religion, creed, family connections, where they live or are from, and much more
